More than half of the said area is taken up by the lake.

The park was primarily built in the days of Kublai Khan and was used for amusement and recreation by the emperors of post-Kublai Khan Dynasties. An interesting scene to behold is the famous White Pagoda standing above the Jade Islet.

This age-old garden does not only reveal classic combination of the grandeur that both the northern and southern Chinese gardens explicitly display but also a splendid integration of brilliant imperial palaces and solemn religious structures. During summer, one can enjoy the beauty of the graceful lotus that blooms, covering the surface of the lake.

Other famous features in Beihai Park include the White Dagoba, Hao Pu Creek (Haopujian) Garden, Quiet Heart (Jingxin) Studio, Nine-Dragon Screen, Five-Dragon Pavilions, and the Circular City. The halls, towers and pavilions are among the distinct places to visit in this Circular City. The Chengguang Hall holds the exceptionally precious white jade statue of Buddha introduced from Burma at the end of Qing Dynasty.

An amazing revelation of Chinese culture and history

Just a 15 minute ride from Fuhao Hotel Beijing and you can step your foot at the acclaimed Tian Tan, commonly known as the Temple of Heaven. This temple was said to be where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties would give their offerings to heaven and pray for a bountiful harvest.

This marvelous sight was constructed between 1406 and 1420 during the reign of the Ming Emperor Yong Le (1403-1424), who also supervised the creation of the Forbidden City. Tian Tan was originally designated as the Temple of Heaven and Earth, but with the reign of Ming Emperor Jiajing (1522-1567) who built separate complexes for the earth, sun, and moon, it was given its current name.

With its long existence, Tian Tan was renovated again during the reign of Emperor QuianLong, and just recently in 2005 underwent a 6 million USD renovation after being added to the UNESCO World heritage list.

The three main structures of the Temple of Heaven include the Altar of Heaven (Yuan QiuTan), The Echo Wall and the Imperial Vault of Heaven (Huang Qiong Yu), and the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests (Qinian Dian).
